In a world that can be chaotic and overwhelming, finding solace in our faith can be a powerful anchor. Embracing Biblical affirmations to decree over your life can profoundly strengthen your relationship with God and reinforce His promises. I NEED THIS! Who else could use more of this in their life 🙋♀️?!?
30 Positive Affirmations Using Bible Verses
One of my favorite inAWE products is our handcrafted book filled with 30 positive affirmations using Bible verses. It is designed to uplift and inspire daily. You can read more about this product and download a pdf of the 30 Biblical affirmations here.
Today, I’m embarking on a journey to begin writing blog posts for each of the 30 Biblical affirmations. To begin, let’s focus on the first powerful truth in this affirmation book.
I am never alone because God is always with me. I can count on Him.
The Truth: God Is Always With Me
This affirmation reminds us that, no matter the circumstances, we can rest assured in God's unwavering presence. As believers and readers of the Bible, we can likely recite many Bible verses where God has said that He is with us. One of my favorite reminders of this truth is in Joshua 1:9 - Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
I tried to find a source telling how many times this truth is shared in God’s Word. I know it’s in there A LOT. For certain, it is referenced at least 100 times. If you want to read them all, check them out here.
The fact that God says it over and over to us in His love letter, the Bible, does not necessarily mean that it is cemented in our hearts, minds and souls. Surely I’m not alone here, right? (pun intended)
The Lies: Why I Need To Be Reminded That God Is With Me
I want to unpack this here because I am hopeful addressing this reality will help me (and you). Here are 3 reasons why I forget this basic promise.
Daily Living Blinds Me to the Truth that God Is With Me
First, I am so busy in the day-to-day activities of life that I simply do not PAUSE long enough to contemplate God’s Presence and promises.
This is why I have my Christian affirmation book on a stand to the right of my computer monitor. BONUS: Because it is numbered 1-30, it also helps me remember what date of the month it is.
The Truth That God Is With Me Is More Than Enough
When I do stop and recognize that He is with me, it is typically because something happened that was not planned. Typically when a small crisis occurs, I find myself intent on telling God how to solve my particular problem; because, well…I seem to think that His Presence is not enough and that He needs me to tell Him what to do.
About 20 years ago, my family and I moved to a new town. After a few months in this new place, my DH, who is almost perfect, did something that irritated me. I felt incredibly alone because I didn’t have a friend to vent to about his annoying behavior. Next thing I know, I’m face down on our bed talking to God about how lonely I was and how He needed to send me a friend. Uh, hello, Kasey - remember Me - the One who is always with you? The best friend you’ll ever have.
SIDE NOTE: The other thing I learned during this experience is that it is best to vent to God FIRST - rather than to another human being. During that sorry situation, He wisely allowed me to see my part in the conflict. Don’t you love when that happens? 🙄
Intense Emotions in Times of Trouble Make Me Forget God Is With Me
Finally, there will be times in life when we find ourselves in situations where we are so deeply invested in the trouble at hand that we cannot find it in ourselves to reach out to God in faith. And, this sister, is when you need a “sheltering tree” (or 3 or 4).
Over 10 years ago, a Christian band, NewSong, released this song, Sheltering Trees. You can also listen to the song on Spotify.
It’s been said a friend is like a mighty sheltering tree
A place of refuge we can run when trouble comes for you and me
Someone we can count on through the thick and thin
When the storms of life are blowing, there’s just nothing like a friend…
We all need sheltering trees
Friends in our lives who’ll get down on their knees
And lift us up before the King of Kings
WE ALL NEED SHELTERING TREES 🌳
Friends That Pray For You Are Priceless
The oldest “sheltering tree” in my life is my college roommate, Donica. We started sheltering one another back in 1990 when her boyfriend (now husband) was a marine fighting in Desert Storm. I found her crumpled on the floor of her room, scared and weeping. I kneeled down beside her and began to pray over her.
In the past 34 years, there have been countless times when we have sheltered one another by praying when the other was struggling to do so. When life was bearing down on us like a hurricane and we were simply exhausted from hanging on, nothing left in the tank except to reach out to the other, knowing we would be prayed over thoroughly.
Because of this YouTube video, we refer to praying as “chopping wood” which is why some of my most used emojis are 🪓 and 🪵.
Here’s a pic from our latest adventure in October 2023. We were in Colorado at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre attending Air1 Worship Now Live.
It was AWE-some! 10 of 10!!! I highly recommend you attend with some of your own sheltering trees.
I Am Never Alone Because God is Always With Me. I Can Count on Him.
I’ve enjoyed sharing some of the reasons why I appreciate this little book reminding me that God is with me. I hope something in this post has been a blessing to you.
I’d like to finish off by sharing this excerpt from a daily devotional book that I purchased years ago and adore - New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp.
“I am never - in anything, anywhere, at any time - by myself. I never arrive on the scene first. I never step into a situation that exists outside his control. I never move beyond the reach of his authority. He is never surprised by where I end up or by what I am facing. He never leaves me to the limited resources of my own wisdom, strength, and righteousness. He never grows weary with protecting and providing for me. He will never abandon me out of frustration.”
Until next time, stay AWE-some!
There is a framed print of lyrics from Michael W. Smith’s song “Pray for Me” given in 1991, that was my commission from my Sheltering Tree, Kasey. What a road we have traveled and CONTINUE to travel this side of Glory. Thank you GOD for Sheltering Trees.
